Thanks for this info and the pics.
I am painting my van using a interlux marine enamel (red) it's coming out great (sprayed hplv)
I am going to do the top in tremclad black was wondering about air temperature.
Yout story and pictures are sure encouraging.
I have found the same thing, painting cares is really over rated, it all in the prep work.
But you know if all you need to do is make the care look better, paint really covers a lot of issues.
If it's does not have to be polished, home painting can be very forgiving. As 69 charger has said, thinning is important to get the paint to lay flat, the marine paints have a special thinner or brushing fluid that helps the paint layout flat and give you a great finish. Go for it, paint !!!!
